Welcome to the Infant Class......Reception/Year 1/Year 2.
For the first half term our topics will be Traditional Tales and Dragons.
We will be looking at several different traditional tales and will compare different versions of them. In Science we will learn about animals, including humans, and will find out they need to stay fit and healthy. In geography we will learn about how to read maps and how to locate the UK, as well as other countries.
If anyone has any articles or resources related to these topics we would love to see them.
For more information please see our Termly Forecast and timetable, which will be uploaded shortly.
If you have any questions please come and discuss them with us,
Mrs Newstead and Mrs Barrett.
The Infants enjoyed learning about Shrove Tuesday and making (and eating) pancakes. They followed the instructions carefully and enjoyed a selection of toppings, including lemon, sugar, syrup, banana and chocolate spread! What great inspiration for our instruction writing in English.
Last term we learnt how to make a digital card in preparation for making our Christmas cards. The children really enjoyed learning how to insert and change text, how to insert and change pictures and how to make their own designs using specific programs.
Learning outdoors with Halwill
On Tuesday 22nd November the Infants went to visit class 2 at Halwill School. We had a wonderful afternoon (despite the terrible weather) making dens for our dolls in their 'Wild for Learning' area, as well as making lots of new friends. We are looking forward to working with class 2 again in the Spring term! Pictures from the visit are displayed in the classroom, with a selection added below.
Many thanks to all the parents who helped with transporting children to and from Halwill.
On Tuesday 5th of January, years 1 & 3 went on a wonderful trip to the pantomime to Plymouth to see Cinderella. It was another really great opportnity to meet up with the children from Halwill as a part of the federations SMCS trips.
"It was really funny and i liked the two sisters the best, because they were REALLY FUNNY." Year 1 Pupil
"I really enjoyed meeting up with my other friends i have made from Halwill". Y3 Pupil
Happy New Year to everyone, I hope you enjoyed the Christmas holidays. We have lots of exciting work to look at this term.
We are fortunate to have an Exeter Univeristy PGCE Student Mrs Tapper, joining the infants until March. Please feel free to come in and meet her and throughout the term as she will be working alongside your children.
