Summer term 2021

Where in the world........

Welcome back!

It has been a super start to the term with all our children settling back  into learning quickly.  Our groupings are Fledglings

(2-4 year olds)  Tadpoles (EYFS) Caterpillars (Year 1) and Hoglets (Year 2)

As well as myself, our Foundation Stage team consists of Mrs Barrett, and Mrs Phillips.

As a team we rotate teaching and activities so that the children work within their age phases.

If you would like to see how your child/children learn in the FSU & KS1,   please feel free to make an appointment with the office and come and join us for a taster session.

This term we are thinking about 'Where in the world'.   Fledglings and Tadpoles will be exploring our themes of minibeasts and then the seaside.   Caterpillars and Hoglets will be exploring different habitats in the UK and comparing it with the Sahara desert.  We will also be finding out the palaeontologist, Mary Anning and relating it to our local coast.

Home learning tasks will be set via Class Dojo by Friday each week. Please send it back on Thursday morning each week.   As a federation we ask for you to hear your child read 5 times each week.  Reading is really important and feeds into all other areas of life. Sometimes the children may need to practise reading sentences or paragraphs to develop speed or fluency, rather than reading the whole book. It is this practise that develops reading skills.  We often say that the first read is to practise, the second is to improve and the third time is to perform! If the children are able to read and talk about what they have read regularly at home, it can have a huge impact on their progress and learning as well as being enjoyable.  This can be for a little as 5-10 minutes per day.    Please continue to write in their diaries when they have read, as it helps us if we know if they are having any difficulties.   The children  love of library time and the children are welcome to change library books on Mondays and Thursdays.  This will be on Wednesdays for Fledglings.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs Stanbury (Wildtribe) will be teach a gymnastic or multi-skill skill session.  Wednesday Mr Scott Hayler teaches a  PE session, which this term is athletics, cricket and rounders.  There will be after school sessions on these days.  On Friday Music and Dance is be lead by Ms Squires and Madame Clarke concludes the week with French.

This term we are hoping for some fabulous weather!  So that we can continue to use and enjoy our super setting, please ensure that your child has a named hat and water bottle each day.  It is also really helpful if long lasting sun cream can be applied please.

The happiness of the children is paramount, if you have questions or need anything, please contact me via Class Dojo or catch me on the gate. Our Class is a very happy place to be!

Dentist Visit

Harvest Leek and Potato Soup

Today we have making leek and potato soup ready to share with our parents, family and community members during our Harvest celebrations on Thursday. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Pancake Day!

The Infants enjoyed learning about Shrove Tuesday and making (and eating) pancakes. They followed the instructions carefully and enjoyed a selection of toppings, including lemon, sugar, syrup, banana and chocolate spread! What great inspiration for our instruction writing in English.
